A dental implant is the gold standard for missing teeth, however, not all patients will be candidates for implants. In those cases, our doctors may recommend a dental bridge to restore missing teeth. Healthy existing teeth are used to support the false tooth. The natural and prosthetic teeth are linked together for a stable, permanent restoration.

Dental Bridge Procedure

The first step is a comprehensive examination with our dentists. They will assess the health of your teeth, gums, jaw joints and other support structures. You may have an existing dental bridge or have teeth that need to be extracted. Regardless of your condition, our doctors will create a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs, goals, and budget.

The dental bridge will be fabricated in a dental laboratory. You may have a temporary, tooth colored intermediate bridge to wear between appointments. During the delivery appointment, you will have the opportunity to evaluate the shade and fit of your final dental prosthesis. Once both you and the dentists at Frederick Smiles Dental Care are happy, the bridge will be permanently cemented into place.

Dental Bridge FAQs

How much does a dental bridge cost?
The cost of a dental bridge will depend on the number and location of the missing teeth as well as the type of bridge and materials chosen.

How do I care for my dental bridge?
A dental bridge should be brushed and flossed just like natural teeth. Our doctors will teach you a special technique to floss under and around the artificial tooth or teeth. It is also important to visit the dentist at least twice a year for routine examinations.

Can you repair broken bridgework?
Although dental bridges are built to last a long time, problems still sometimes arise. Our doctors do offer dental bridge repair. If a bridge happens to chip, break, or come loose, you should contact our Frederick dental office right away. Depending on the extent of damage, we may be able to recement the bridge or replace it all together.
